In October 2006 Christies in London held the auction Nordic Art andDesign, which included the work Ships Tacking to Windward by Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg. The price achieved of GBP 164,800.00 (€ 246,225.88) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 150,000.00 – 200,000.00. Other works by Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in May 2008 the work Danish Forum Romanum Set Fra Colosseum (The Forum Romanum From The Colosseum) was auctioned for GBP 240,500.00 (€ 305,926.51).
