The work Danish Forum Romanum Set Fra Colosseum (The Forum Romanum From The Colosseum) by Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg was auctioned at Sothebys in London in May 2008. The price achieved of GBP 240,500.00 (€ 305,926.51) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 200,000.00 – 300,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Danish Forum Romanum Set Fra Colosseum (The Forum Romanum From The Colosseum) is the most expensive artwork by Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg that we have observed at auctions so far.
