Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Wooded landscape with a river and thistles by Christoffel van den Berghe was auctioned at Sothebys in London in March 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 6,300.00 (€ 7,400.88) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Christoffel van den Berghe achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tulips, Roses, Narcissi, Daffodils, Crocuses, An Iris, A Poppy And Other Flowers In A Gilt Mounted Porcelain Vase On A Ledge, With A Queen Of Spain Fritillary, A White Ermine And A Magpie Butterfly in July 2013 with an auction result of GBP 626,500.00 (€ 715,885.45).

Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 6.300,00 (€ 7.400,88) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
