Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2017 Sothebys in London held the auction Modern and Contemporary African Art, which included the work Boy With A Trumpet by Christo Coetzee. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 8,125.00 (€ 9,331.89) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Christo Coetzee - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work without title, which sold at auction in May 2019 for USD 21,325.00 (€ 19,127.28).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2017 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Modern and Contemporary African Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Boy With A Trumpet von Christo Coetzee zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 8.125,00 (€ 9.331,89) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Christo Coetzee mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit ohne Titel beobachtet, die im Mai 2019 für USD 21.325,00 (€ 19.127,28) versteigert wurde.
