Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Abstract composition by Christo Coetzee was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in September 2000, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of NLG 1,200.00 – 1,600.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for NLG 585.10 (€ 269.67). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Christo Coetzee achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in May 2019 with an auction result of USD 21,325.00 (€ 19,127.28).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Abstract composition von Christo Coetzee im September 2000 bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von NLG 1.200,00 – 1.600,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für NLG 585,10 (€ 269,67) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Christo Coetzee erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit ohne Titel im Mai 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 21.325,00 (€ 19.127,28).
