Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In June last year Sothebys in London held the auction Modern & Contemporary Evening Auction, which included the work We Woke in Mourning Jus Tha Same by Christina Quarles. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 529,200.00 (€ 614,779.86), 18% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Christina Quarles have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Night Fell Upon Us Up On Us in May last year with an auction result of USD 4,527,000.00 (€ 4,218,618.95).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Juni letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Modern & Contemporary Evening Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit We Woke in Mourning Jus Tha Same von Christina Quarles zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 529.200,00 (€ 614.779,86) und damit 18% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Christina Quarles auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Night Fell Upon Us Up On Us im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 4.527.000,00 (€ 4.218.618,95).
