Auction result well in line with expectations

In December 2011 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master and British Paintings Day Sale, which included the work Aeneas Taking Leave From Dido by Christiaen van Couwenbergh. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 8,125.00 (€ 9,730.84) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Christiaen van Couwenbergh have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Merry Company Drinking And Playing Music in May 2019 with an auction result of USD 50,000.00 (€ 44,847.07).

Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen

Im Dezember 2011 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Master and British Paintings Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Aeneas Taking Leave From Dido von Christiaen van Couwenbergh zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 8.125,00 (€ 9.730,84) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Christiaen van Couwenbergh auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Merry Company Drinking And Playing Music im Mai 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 50.000,00 (€ 44.847,07).
