In November this year a collector was able to acquire the work Ansicht von Eltville am Rhein by Christian Georg Schütz The Elder for EUR 3,780.00. This price was achieved in the auction Alte Kunst und 19. Jahrhundert, Teil I at Lempertz in Cologne and was even below the estimate range of EUR 4,000.00 – 6,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Christian Georg Schütz The Elder achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Rhenish landscape with peasants talking by a track, figures on a bridge and a village beyond; and A Rhenish landscape with figures on a track, a hilltop village beyond in April 2002 with an auction result of GBP 45,410.00 (€ 73,472.19).

Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Alte Kunst und 19. Jahrhundert, Teil I bei Lempertz in Köln erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von EUR 4.000,00 – 6.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Christian Georg Schütz The Elder erzielen.
