Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Beauty beneath cherry blossoms by Chobunsai Eishi was sold in the Japanese & Korean Art Including Arts of the Meiji Period auction at Christies in New York in September 2010. The price achieved of USD 15,000.00 (€ 11,028.60) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Chobunsai Eishi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Beauty writing a poem on a fan in March 2008 with an auction result of USD 229,000.00 (€ 144,890.86).
