In March 2008 Christies in New York held the auction Japanese And Korean Art, which included the work Beauty writing a poem on a fan by Chobunsai Eishi. The price achieved of USD 229,000.00 (€ 144,890.86) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 200,000.00 – 250,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Beauty writing a poem on a fan is the most expensive artwork by Chobunsai Eishi that we have observed at auctions so far.
