This artwork by Cheong Soo Pieng achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in May 2011. In the Southeast Asian Modern and Contemporary Art auction, the work The Lake sold for HKD 81,250.00 (€ 7,268.19) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Cheong Soo Pieng achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nature's Inspiration in November this year with an auction result of HKD 11,507,000.00 (€ 1,350,289.70).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Cheong Soo Pieng erzielte im Mai 2011 bei Christies in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Southeast Asian Modern and Contemporary Art wurde die Arbeit The Lake für HKD 81.250,00 (€ 7.268,19) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 30.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Cheong Soo Pieng erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Nature's Inspiration im November diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 11.507.000,00 (€ 1.350.289,70).
