Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Rooster on a Rock by Chen Zizhuang was auctioned at Bonhams in Hong Kong in October 2019, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 15,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at HKD 56,875.00 (€ 6,500.73). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Chen Zizhuang achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Peonies And Rock in November 2013 with an auction result of HKD 2,320,000.00 (€ 219,961.78).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Rooster on a Rock von Chen Zizhuang im Oktober 2019 bei Bonhams in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 15.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 56.875,00 (€ 6.500,73) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Chen Zizhuang erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Peonies And Rock im November 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 2.320.000,00 (€ 219.961,78).
