A top price for Chen Jiayan
When the work Birds, Narcissus and Pine by Chen Jiayan was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in May 2013, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 60,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than seven times as high at HKD 475,000.00 (€ 47,105.02). This high result makes Birds, Narcissus and Pine the most expensive artwork by Chen Jiayan that we have observed at auctions so far.

Als die Arbeit Birds, Narcissus and Pine von Chen Jiayan im Mai 2013 bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 60.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 475.000,00 (€ 47.105,02) mehr als siebenmal so hoch. Dieses hohe Ergebnis macht Birds, Narcissus and Pine zu dem teuersten Kunstwerk von Chen Jiayan, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
