The work Scene from the Spring Palace by Chen Dongyang was worth HKD 264,000.00 (€ 25,601.69) to a buyer in November 2006. This price was achieved in the auction Fine Modern and Contemporary Chinese Paintings at Christies in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 85,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Chen Dongyang; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Kiss sold at auction in May 2007 with the realized price of HKD 312,000.00 (€ 29,708.76).
