Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Orchid and Rock/Gourds by Chen Congzhou was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in June 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 12,500.00 (€ 1,435.76). Admittedly, works by Chen Congzhou have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Grapes, Bamboo, Plum Blossoms, and Orchids in May 2018 with an auction result of HKD 93,750.00 (€ 10,242.61).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Orchid and Rock/Gourds von Chen Congzhou im Juni 2020 bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 12.500,00 (€ 1.435,76) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Chen Congzhou auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Grapes, Bamboo, Plum Blossoms, and Orchids im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 93.750,00 (€ 10.242,61).
