Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portret jongens Gerbrands (recto); A charcoal sketch of three children (verso) by Charley Toorop was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in November 2005. The price achieved of EUR 42,000.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charley Toorop - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Rozen - Roses, which sold at auction in November 2004 for EUR 107,550.00.

Die Arbeit Portret jongens Gerbrands (recto); A charcoal sketch of three children (verso) von Charley Toorop kam im November 2005 bei Christies in Amsterdam zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von EUR 42.000,00 lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit EUR 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Charley Toorop mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Rozen - Roses beobachtet, die im November 2004 für EUR 107.550,00 versteigert wurde.
