Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Grouse nesting in a moorland by Charles Whymper was sold in the BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL WATERCOLOURS AND DRAWINGS auction at Christies in London in September 2002. The price achieved of GBP 376.00 (€ 597.55) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 300.00 – 500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Whymper achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Red grouse in flight in December 2017 with an auction result of GBP 5,625.00 (€ 6,330.11).
