In October 2005 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Pictures, which included the work Salvaging a wreck; and A rest by the wayside by Charles W. Oswald. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 840.00 (€ 1,238.75), 68% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Charles W. Oswald; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Cattle watering in a loch landscape sold at auction in May 2004 with the realized price of GBP 1,195.00 (€ 1,792.94).

Im Oktober 2005 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Continental Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit Salvaging a wreck; and A rest by the wayside von Charles W. Oswald zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 840,00 (€ 1.238,75) und damit 68% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Charles W. Oswald; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Cattle watering in a loch landscape im Mai 2004 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 1.195,00 (€ 1.792,94).
