Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait of the architect P. Norman, seated, half-length, in a brown coat by Charles Napier Kennedy was auctioned at Christies in London in April 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 700.00 – 1,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 625.00 (€ 703.86). Admittedly, works by Charles Napier Kennedy have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The artist's studio in September 2008 with an auction result of GBP 3,250.00 (€ 4,109.30).
