Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work A monkey sitting by a salver, oysters and shrimps, a lemon, various glass vessels and plates on a table by Charles Monginot was sold in the 19th Century European Art auction at Christies in London in December 2004. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,390.00 (€ 3,382.51), 20% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Charles Monginot have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Hawking in November 2000 with an auction result of GBP 10,575.00 (€ 17,284.42).

Die Arbeit A monkey sitting by a salver, oysters and shrimps, a lemon, various glass vessels and plates on a table von Charles Monginot wurde im Dezember 2004 in der Auktion 19th Century European Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.390,00 (€ 3.382,51) und damit 20% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Charles Monginot auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Hawking im November 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 10.575,00 (€ 17.284,42).
