Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Charles McCall achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in London in September 2020. In the Modern British and Irish Art auction, the work Drays Unloading, The Duke of Wellington sold for GBP 3,187.50 (€ 3,514.74) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles McCall - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Housework, which sold at auction in May 2007 for GBP 5,400.00 (€ 7,946.47).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Charles McCall erzielte im September 2020 bei Bonhams in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern British and Irish Art wurde die Arbeit Drays Unloading, The Duke of Wellington für GBP 3.187,50 (€ 3.514,74) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.500,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Charles McCall mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Housework beobachtet, die im Mai 2007 für GBP 5.400,00 (€ 7.946,47) versteigert wurde.
