Auction result misses estimated price range
In November 2012 a collector was able to acquire the work A large trading schooner, a French warship, a Royal Yacht Squadron schooner and other shipping in coastal waters by Charles Henry Seaforth for GBP 1,875.00 (€ 2,309.81). This price was achieved in the auction Maritime Art at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Henry Seaforth achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Two-Decker Drying Her Sails And Airing Ship, Lying At Anchor (Illustrated); And A Frigate In Distress With A Fishing Boat Going To Her Rescue in November 2006 with an auction result of GBP 18,000.00 (€ 26,730.56).
