Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Evensong by Charles Frederick Lowcock was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in June 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 6,875.00 (€ 4,733.87). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Frederick Lowcock - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Feeding Time, which sold at auction in September 2004 for GBP 7,170.00 (€ 10,445.78).
