Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Morning: Levantine merchants on a quay below a castle, a three-master at anchor beyond; and Evening: Fisherfolk drawing in their nets, a port beyond by Charles Francois Grenier de Lacroix was sold in the Old Master Paintings and Sculpture auction at Christies in London in December 2019. The price achieved of GBP 100,000.00 (€ 118,188.30) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 80,000.00 – 120,000.00. Admittedly, works by Charles Francois Grenier de Lacroix have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work View Of A Mediterranean Seaport At Dusk, With Fishermen And Elegant Figures Gathered Along The Harbor As A Ship Pulls In in January 2017 with an auction result of USD 516,500.00 (€ 478,506.58).
