In April 2009 Sothebys in New York held the auction 19th Century European Art including Orientalist Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture, which included the work British Death Of A Viking Warrior by Charles Ernest Butler. The result of USD 50,000.00 (€ 37,752.94) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, British Death Of A Viking Warrior is the most expensive artwork by Charles Ernest Butler that we have observed at auctions so far.
