In January 2014 Christies in London held the auction 19th Century European Art Including Orientalist Art, which included the work Mermaids Frolicking by Charles Edouard Boutibonne. The result of GBP 20,000.00 (€ 24,370.37) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 20,000.00 – 40,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Edouard Boutibonne - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Before the bath, which sold at auction in July 2008 for GBP 43,250.00 (€ 54,949.61).

Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 20.000,00 (€ 24.370,37) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 20.000,00 – 40.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Charles Edouard Boutibonne mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Before the bath beobachtet, die im Juli 2008 für GBP 43.250,00 (€ 54.949,61) versteigert wurde.
