In July 2008 Christies in London held the auction 19th Century European Art including Orientalist and Spanish Art, which included the work Before the bath by Charles Edouard Boutibonne. It changed hands for a price of GBP 43,250.00 (€ 54,949.61) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 35,000.00 – 45,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Before the bath is the most expensive artwork by Charles Edouard Boutibonne that we have observed at auctions so far.
