Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In January 2009 Christies in London held the auction 19th Century European Art & Orientalist Art, which included the work At the entrance to the Grand Canal, Venice by Charles-Clément Calderon. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 3,500.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 4,000.00 (€ 4,502.66). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles-Clément Calderon - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work View Of The Doge'S Palace, Venice, which sold at auction in January 2008 for USD 20,000.00 (€ 13,476.18).
