Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Charles Bargue could be acquired at Christies in London in December 2003 for an unexpectedly low price. In the British & Continental Watercolours including Original Book auction, the work An Artist In His Studio changed hands for GBP 282.00 (€ 399.42) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Bargue achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Le jeu d'échecs in January 2009 with an auction result of GBP 8,125.00 (€ 9,146.02).
