This artwork by Charles Antoine Berny d'Ouville achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in May 2020. In the Old Masters including Portrait Miniatures from the Pohl-Ströher Collection auction, the work Portrait Of Charles Berny, Circa 1820 sold for GBP 2,750.00 (€ 3,052.80) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Charles Antoine Berny d'Ouville; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot A young gentleman, called the miniaturist Gra..., in blue velvet coat, white waistcoat, shirt and knotted cravat sold at auction in June 2009 with the realized price of GBP 2,750.00 (€ 3,227.03).
