In November 2016 Sothebys in London held the auction Julian Trevelyan & Mary Fedden at Durham Wharf, which included the work The Return by Cecil Collins. The auction ended at the price of GBP 30,000.00 (€ 35,397.05), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Cecil Collins - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Greeting, which sold at auction in June 2015 for GBP 70,000.00 (€ 98,699.12).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Im November 2016 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Julian Trevelyan & Mary Fedden at Durham Wharf durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Return von Cecil Collins zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 30.000,00 (€ 35.397,05) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 20.000,00 – 30.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Cecil Collins mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Greeting beobachtet, die im Juni 2015 für GBP 70.000,00 (€ 98.699,12) versteigert wurde.
