This artwork by Catherine Opie achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in September 2019. In the Contemporary Photographs auction, the work Selected Images (From Freeways) sold for USD 18,750.00 (€ 17,193.95) - well above the upper estimate of USD 9,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Catherine Opie achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Surfer for One Drop in September 2018 with an auction result of USD 264,000.00 (€ 227,155.39).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Catherine Opie erzielte im September 2019 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Photographs wurde die Arbeit Selected Images (From Freeways) für USD 18.750,00 (€ 17.193,95) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 9.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Catherine Opie erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Surfer for One Drop im September 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 264.000,00 (€ 227.155,39).
