Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Catherine Opie could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in October 2021 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Contemporary Photographs auction, the work 'Nick' changed hands for USD 8,820.00 (€ 7,635.04) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Catherine Opie achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Surfer for One Drop in September 2018 with an auction result of USD 264,000.00 (€ 227,155.39).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Catherine Opie konnte im Oktober 2021 bei Sothebys in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Contemporary Photographs wechselte die Arbeit 'Nick' für USD 8.820,00 (€ 7.635,04) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Catherine Opie erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Surfer for One Drop im September 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 264.000,00 (€ 227.155,39).
