Upper estimate price exceeded by 25 %.
In September 2019 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Photographs, which included the work Divinity Fudge by Catherine Opie. The »bidding war« ended at USD 25,000.00 (€ 22,925.26), 25% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Catherine Opie have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Surfer for One Drop in September 2018 with an auction result of USD 264,000.00 (€ 227,155.39).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Im September 2019 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Divinity Fudge von Catherine Opie zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 25.000,00 (€ 22.925,26) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Catherine Opie auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Surfer for One Drop im September 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 264.000,00 (€ 227.155,39).
