The work German landschaft Mit Gebirgsee, Morgen (Landscape With Mountain Lake, Morning) by Caspar David Friedrich was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2018. The price achieved of GBP 2,530,000.00 (€ 2,818,644.38) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000,000.00 – 3,000,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, German landschaft Mit Gebirgsee, Morgen (Landscape With Mountain Lake, Morning) is the most expensive artwork by Caspar David Friedrich that we have observed at auctions so far.
