Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2001 Christies in London held the auction 19TH CENTURY EUROPEAN ART, which included the work Figures contemplating the moon by Caspar David Friedrich. The price achieved of GBP 35,250.00 (€ 56,093.85) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Caspar David Friedrich achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work German landschaft Mit Gebirgsee, Morgen (Landscape With Mountain Lake, Morning) in December 2018 with an auction result of GBP 2,530,000.00 (€ 2,818,644.38).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2001 führte Christies in London die Auktion 19TH CENTURY EUROPEAN ART durch, in der auch die Arbeit Figures contemplating the moon von Caspar David Friedrich zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 35.250,00 (€ 56.093,85) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Caspar David Friedrich erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit German landschaft Mit Gebirgsee, Morgen (Landscape With Mountain Lake, Morning) im Dezember 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.530.000,00 (€ 2.818.644,38).
