In November last year Bonhams in London held the auction British and European Art, which included the work When the boats are at sea by Carlton Alfred Smith. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,040.00 (€ 2,363.89), 70% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Carlton Alfred Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Christmas Eve in March 2008 with an auction result of GBP 29,300.00 (€ 36,808.07).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 70 % übertroffen
Im November letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in London die Auktion British and European Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit When the boats are at sea von Carlton Alfred Smith zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.040,00 (€ 2.363,89) und damit 70% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Carlton Alfred Smith erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Christmas Eve im März 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 29.300,00 (€ 36.808,07).
