Auction result well in line with expectations
The work At The Garden Gate by Carlton Alfred Smith was sold in the British & Irish Art auction at Sothebys in London in May 2012. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,250.00 (€ 2,803.40) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Carlton Alfred Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Christmas Eve in March 2008 with an auction result of GBP 29,300.00 (€ 36,808.07).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit At The Garden Gate von Carlton Alfred Smith wurde im Mai 2012 in der Auktion British & Irish Art bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 2.250,00 (€ 2.803,40) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Carlton Alfred Smith erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Christmas Eve im März 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 29.300,00 (€ 36.808,07).
