It achieved a price of USD 8,750.00 (€ 6,351.16), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 25%. Admittedly, works by Cao Xiuxian have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Running Script Calligraphy in May 2013 with an auction result of HKD 475,000.00 (€ 47,105.02).

Die Arbeit Tao Qian'S Poems In Cursive Script von Cao Xiuxian wurde im März 2014 in der Auktion Fine Classical Chinese Paintings & Calligraphy bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 8.750,00 (€ 6.351,16) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 25%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Cao Xiuxian auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Running Script Calligraphy im Mai 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 475.000,00 (€ 47.105,02).
