Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Cao Xiaodong could be acquired at Sothebys in Hong Kong in April 2018 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Contemporary Art Day Sale auction, this work without title changed hands for HKD 17,500.00 (€ 1,846.53) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of HKD 20,000.00 – 40,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Cao Xiaodong achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Stars Over Hollywood in May 2008 with an auction result of HKD 367,500.00 (€ 30,254.98).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Cao Xiaodong konnte im April 2018 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Contemporary Art Day Sale wechselte diese Arbeit ohne Titel für HKD 17.500,00 (€ 1.846,53) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von HKD 20.000,00 – 40.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Cao Xiaodong erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Stars Over Hollywood im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 367.500,00 (€ 30.254,98).
