In October this year Christies in Brussels held the auction First Open: Post-War and Contemporary Art Online, which included the work Ca’ Rezzonico Venezia I by Candida Höfer. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 27,720.00 (€ 31,830.26), 54% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Candida Höfer - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Biblioteca Geral da Universidade de Coimbra IV, which sold at auction in February 2015 for GBP 80,500.00 (€ 110,997.54).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 54 % übertroffen
Im Oktober diesen Jahres führte Christies in Brüssel die Auktion First Open: Post-War and Contemporary Art Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Ca’ Rezzonico Venezia I von Candida Höfer zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 27.720,00 (€ 31.830,26) und damit 54% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Candida Höfer mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Biblioteca Geral da Universidade de Coimbra IV beobachtet, die im Februar 2015 für GBP 80.500,00 (€ 110.997,54) versteigert wurde.
