Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Guan Yu, Guan Ping And Zhou Cang(Painted In 1987) by Cai Guo-Qiang was worth HKD 354,000.00 (€ 40,167.08) to a buyer in March 2019. This price was achieved in the auction Asian 20th Century and Contemporary Art at China Guardian in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 100,000.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Cai Guo-Qiang achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Project For Extraterrestrials No.10, Project To Extend The Great Wall Of China in October 2007 with an auction result of HKD 20,487,500.00 (€ 1,826,712.40).
