Auction result well in line with expectations
The work At The Garden Gate by Briton Rivière was sold in the Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art auction at Christies in London in March 2016. The price achieved of GBP 9,375.00 (€ 11,836.86) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Briton Rivière achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Requiescat in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 111,150.00 (€ 162,275.49).
