Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2018 Sothebys in London held the auction Modern & Contemporary African Art, which included the work South Africanpale Mutants by Brett Murray. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 8,125.00 (€ 9,250.76) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Brett Murray - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Party Vs The People, 2010, which sold at auction in June 2021 for EUR 24,390.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März 2018 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Modern & Contemporary African Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit South Africanpale Mutants von Brett Murray zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 8.125,00 (€ 9.250,76) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Brett Murray mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Party Vs The People, 2010 beobachtet, die im Juni 2021 für EUR 24.390,00 versteigert wurde.
