Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Good Night (Or On The Sandman'S Trail) by Bessie Potter Vonnoh was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2013, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 9,375.00 (€ 6,896.42). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Bessie Potter Vonnoh achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 'Water Nymph': A Fountain in December 2002 with an auction result of USD 147,000.00 (€ 140,200.29).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Good Night (Or On The Sandman'S Trail) von Bessie Potter Vonnoh im Oktober 2013 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 9.375,00 (€ 6.896,42) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Bessie Potter Vonnoh erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit 'Water Nymph': A Fountain im Dezember 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 147.000,00 (€ 140.200,29).
