Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Untitled, circa 1985 by Bernice Bing was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in November this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,000.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 832.00 (€ 762.74). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Bernice Bing achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Figurescape in November last year with an auction result of USD 50,775.00 (€ 49,186.28).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Untitled, circa 1985 von Bernice Bing im November diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 832,00 (€ 762,74) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Bernice Bing erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Figurescape im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 50.775,00 (€ 49.186,28).
