Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2004 Christies in London held the auction Old Master and 19th Century Drawings, which included the work Fortitude holding a sword, seated and turning to the right by Bernardino Barbatelli. The price achieved of GBP 11,352.50 (€ 17,156.13) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Bernardino Barbatelli - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work An Elaborate Cartouche With The Medici Arms Flanked By Figures of Justice And Wisdom, which sold at auction in July 2005 for GBP 33,600.00 (€ 48,736.48).
