Auction result misses estimated price range
In May 2002 a collector was able to acquire the work A View from the front terrace of Heady Creek, Southampton by Bernard Lamotte for USD 1,195.00 (€ 1,279.58). This price was achieved in the auction PROPERTY FROM THE ESTATE OF DORIS MERRILL MAGOWAN at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 2,000.00 – 4,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Bernard Lamotte have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Rue Saint Vincent in May 2000 with an auction result of USD 5,640.00 (€ 6,046.31).
