Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Osmanthus Fragrance in Jiang Nam by Benny Sy Li was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in April last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 10,710.00 (€ 1,294.92). Admittedly, works by Benny Sy Li have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work An Auspicious Snow to Hong Kong I in March 2018 with an auction result of HKD 60,000.00 (€ 6,204.55).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Osmanthus Fragrance in Jiang Nam von Benny Sy Li im April letzten Jahres bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 10.710,00 (€ 1.294,92) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Benny Sy Li auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit An Auspicious Snow to Hong Kong I im März 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 60.000,00 (€ 6.204,55).
