Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait Of Anthony Chamier M.P., F.R.S. (1725-1780) by Benjamin Wilson was auctioned at Sothebys in London in June 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 4,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 2,500.00 (€ 3,160.08). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Benjamin Wilson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Group Portrait Of The Hussey Family, Small Full-Length, In The Garden Of Wargrave Hill House, Berkshire in November 2004 with an auction result of GBP 31,070.00 (€ 44,694.03).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Portrait Of Anthony Chamier M.P., F.R.S. (1725-1780) von Benjamin Wilson im Juni 2008 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 4.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 2.500,00 (€ 3.160,08) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Benjamin Wilson erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Group Portrait Of The Hussey Family, Small Full-Length, In The Garden Of Wargrave Hill House, Berkshire im November 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 31.070,00 (€ 44.694,03).
